Rooted in farm life and shaped by decades of hands-on work — from trees and sawmills to community theater — Barbara Burres brings a maker’s discipline to her art.

 

Working primarily in oil, along with watercolor and acrylic, she explores the meeting of rural and urban spaces, balancing structure with looseness. Influenced by travel and new perspectives, her paintings reflect an ongoing pursuit of light, pattern, and place.

 

Based in Washington State, she works from Tilton River Studio, where the surrounding landscape continues to inform her exploration of atmosphere and form.
